Ordering on behalf of others permission

When enabled, this permission should allow users to order on behalf of any user in their organization if the user’s information exists in Cimpl (i.e., the user’s information is mapped in Cimpl’s database). If a user does not have a record in the system, you must create their record before anything can be ordered on their behalf.

By the default setting in Cimpl:

  • The Administrator can order on behalf of everyone in the organization through emulation only.
  • While the Manager can only order on behalf of the group of employees that is under their direct responsibility and no one else.

However, there is the possibility for any user to order on behalf of every person in their organization who has an user profile in Cimpl without emulation. This can be done provided that the permission Request on behalf of everyone is enabled in the User Management section of the Configuration module. This permission can only be enabled by an Administrator or by the Cimpl Support team.

Tip: It is recommended that only Administrators should have this permission enabled, unless special cases arise where non-administrators may have a justifiable reason for having this permission (i.e. when a manager needs to order for an employee that is not yet registered in Cimpl as their direct subordinate).

Enable the permission:

  1. Go to Configuration >System Preferences > User Management.
  2. Select the User Profiles tab. A list of all the default user profiles in Cimpl opens, along with any custom profiles your organization may have created.
  3. Click on the Administrator role. The details (i.e., all the permissions available to the role) are listed.
  4. In the search box, enter Request on behalf of everyone. The list updates to the permission.
  5. Click on the icon to change it to the icon. The permission is now enabled.
